Griffin holds his MFA in Creative Writing, Nonfiction from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He has worked extensively as a tutor across age groups through the collegiate level, having previously instructed at Jacksonville State University and supported AP English students as a high school teacher. Griffin also has a Master of Arts in English from Jacksonville State University and is currently a Managing Editor of the Hyattsville Life & Times newspaper.

Favorite book:
Impossible to answer. Some books I keep coming back to: The Autobiography of Malcolm X, Gravity's Rainbow, Nightwood, Joan Didion's geopolitical nonfiction (Salvador and Miami)

Best advice I ever received from a teacher:
"Real education is self-directed. A teacher's job is to expose a student to as many ideas and texts as possible so that the student can pursue their own interests."
